KOCHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJRT) – Saginaw Valley State College is working to offer extra psychological well being providers to college students.
The brand new Campus Psychological Well being and Wellness Middle is designed to handle a rising demand for psychological well being help on campus. The middle might be led by Margaret Bach, a licensed scientific social employee who previously labored for Youngster and Household Companies in Saginaw.
“I imagine psychological well being performs a central function in everybody’s well being, together with college students college and workers,” mentioned Bach, who will begin her new place in April.
The brand new middle will present schooling and coaching on subjects like alcohol and drug abuse, in addition to suicide prevention.
Whereas psychological well being providers have all the time been accessible at SVSU, the college says it’s time focus extra on the subject after a current survey by the Nationwide Teachers of Sciences Engineering and Medication reported 40% of all college students expertise a major psychological well being problem.
Melancholy and nervousness are among the many most prevalent psychological well being points reported on faculty campuses throughout the USA.
